History of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®
Fort Collins History
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Fort Collins opened in April 2011. This franchise location is owned by Kyle Norcutt, who purchased the franchise location after being with the company for thirteen years. In addition to Fort Collins, Kyle also owns locations in Michigan and Texas.
Justin Smith is the Location Manager for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Fort Collins. Justin started as a mover in Kalamazoo, MI in January 2007, and his dedication and hard work led him to pursue a career in management. Kyle recognized this dedication and felt he was the perfect person to open a new location in Fort Collins.
Justin and his team have seen tremendous growth in their two years of operation. So much in fact, they have proudly been able to provide more jobs to the Fort Collins community. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Fort Collins has grown from a staff of 8 and 2 trucks to 19 team members and a fleet of 6 trucks!
In the early 1980s, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® was born from two teenage brothers looking to make some extra money. Now, almost thirty years later, this once small-time side business has grown to over 200 locations across the country.
Jon and Brig Sorber, brothers with determination and an old pickup truck, started to help local people with residential moving. They put an ad in the weekly newspaper, and their logo was designed by their mother, Mary Ellen Sheets. That very same “stick-men” logo is still used today–on trucks, signs, and advertisements.
Aside from her own full time job, Mary Ellen was fielding calls, keeping the business moving forward while the Sorber brothers were in college. In 1985, Mary Ellen took $350 and purchased a 14-foot truck for hired a couple of movers. That $350 is the only investment in the company, and it has managed to get them quite far.
Mary Ellen Sheets was the driving force behind company expansion. She franchised the business, the first location opening in 1989. It opened in Atlanta, Georgia, and was owned by daughter, Melanie Bergeron. This was also the first TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® location outside of Michigan.
In the mid-1990s, the brothers Sorber returned to the family business. Brig is Chief Executive Officer, while Jon is the Executive Vice President.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s former Chief Operating Officer, Randy Shacka, was promoted to president of in August 2012. First joining the team as an intern in 2001, Randy has served in a number of positions within the company. Shacka is the first person in TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® history outside of the Sorber family to hold the title of President.
From the first “stick-men” designed by Mary Ellen Sheets to becoming the country’s largest moving company providing local franchises, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is a strong system of local movers dedicated to all home and business moving. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is committed to exceeding customer expectations and providing quality service for all of your moving needs.
